Death Valley

Death Valley, in the Nevada desert, is mostly below sea level and has very high temperatures in the summer months.

 

Some of the rock formations are truly spectacular!

 

Apparently, the valley is still sinking due to the geological forces at work.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The lowest point is Badwater, a salt lake, which is 282 feet below sea level.

 

The photograph shows the vast expanse of the salt lake. It is a dry, white, salty crust which is covered with a thin layer of rock dust blown over it by the wind.

 

 

 

Orlando, Florida

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a beautiful Disney Resort hotel.

 

The theme is of an African game lodge.  Here is the hotel foyer with is huge Christmas tree.

This is an African costume headdress. It is fabricated on a light, wooden framework and is worn by a single person during tribal celebrations.

From our bedroom balcony you could look out over the ‘savannah’ and there was always something different to look at. Giraffe, ostrich, zebra and a variety of antelope, pelicans and wildebeast.

 

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a magical place to stay.

Scenes from Animal Kingdom.  This theme park is an enchanting way to spend a day and you feel that you have been to Asia and Africa to see the animals.  The day we were there we had a typhoon warning and most of the day was heavy rain!

Life can get so boring!
