November and it was time to find some warm sunshine and to re-visit one of our favourite destinations, the USA.

Of course, we had to leave Priscilla at home this time and endure all the stress and hassle of long haul flights and busy crowded airports. We were joined for this trip by our friends Bob and Caroline. It was their first trip to USA.

We flew to Las Vegas where we stayed for five days and took time out to call in on Death Valley. Then we flew down to Orlando in Florida and visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom. After that a car trip down to Naples on Florida’s Gulf Coast before crossing the Everglades to Miami and flying out to Barbados. We stayed in Barbados 5 days before flying home to UK.  It was 34ºC when we left Barbados and 0ºC when we got home—lovely!

Las Vegas

The Luxor Hotel—our  base for our visit to Las Vegas.

This night scene shows the laser beam which reaches up into the night sky.

The famous ceiling of glass flowers in Bellagio hotel reception.

Each flower is a beautiful piece of glass work.

A closer look at these beautiful glass ornaments

Each hotel/casino has a theme to attract visitors.

Here is the Thanksgiving display in Bellagio. The ‘hoops’ are water jets.

This ‘tree’ was animated. The eyes moved, the face changed expression and the mouth moved as it spoke to you.

Whilst walking around The Venetian, Caroline bumped into this singer chap that she knew. He seemed a bit of a poser to us!

Not quite sure about how the Trojan Horse was linked to Caesar’s Palace?

Perhaps American ancient history is written differently!

The light show in Fremont Street (downtown Las Vegas) is spectacular.

Fremont Street has the famous Golden Nugget casino, where Frank Sinatra used to gamble.

All along the street are performers and bands. It is quite an experience of sight and sound!
